107. This section focuses on the promotion, by States, of measures to address the impacts of fishing on vulnerable marine ecosystems at the regional level, in particular through RFMOs.

In paragraph 46 of that resolution, the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to include in his report a section outlining current risks to the marine biodiversity of vulnerable marine ecosystems related to fishing activities.

Some delegations stated that MPAs, including networks of such areas, were one of the tools that could be used for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity, in particular of vulnerable marine ecosystems.

Welcomes the convening by the Secretary-General, pursuant to paragraph 128 of resolution 64/72, of the workshop to discuss implementation of paragraphs 80 and 83 to 87 of resolution 61/105 and paragraphs 117 and 119 to 127 of resolution 64/72, addressing the impacts of bottom fishing on vulnerable marine ecosystems and the long-term sustainability of deepsea fish stocks, held in New York on 15 and 16 September 2011;

138. Notes in this regard the adoption by coastal States of conservation measures regarding their continental shelf to address the impacts of bottom fishing on vulnerable marine ecosystems, as well as their efforts to ensure compliance with those measures;

66. Part Two, which responds to the request in paragraph 46 of General Assembly resolution 58/14, is intended to complement the information provided in the addendum to the main report of the Secretary-General53 on current risks to the marine biodiversity of vulnerable marine ecosystems beyond national jurisdiction.
66 - يهدف الجزء الثاني من هذا التقرير، الذي يستجيب للطلب الوارد في الفقرة 46 من قرار الجمعية العامة 58/14، إلى إكمال المعلومات الواردة في الإضافة الصادرة لتقرير الأمين العام الرئيسي(53) عن المخاطر التي تحدق حاليا بالتنوع البيولوجي البحري في النظم الإيكولوجية البحرية الهشة خارج حدود الولاية الوطنية.

118. Reaffirms paragraphs 113 to 130 of resolution 64/72 addressing the impacts of bottom fishing on vulnerable marine ecosystems and the long-term sustainability of deep sea fish stocks, and urges States and relevant regional fisheries management organizations and arrangements to fully implement the actions called for in those paragraphs;
