32. The United Nations Regional Workshop for East and South-East Asia entitled " Strengthening the capacity of the media in promoting and advocating peace and disarmament " took place in Beijing on 20 and 21 January 2011.

The Subcommittee also noted that APSCO had held its fifth Council Meeting, in Beijing on 7 and 8 September 2011, at which it had approved a number of new projects and reviewed the progress being made on those approved earlier.

1. As part of the annual ministerial review process of the Economic and Social Council, an Asia-Pacific regional meeting on the theme " Promoting health literacy " was held in Beijing on 29 and 30 April 2009, hosted by the Government of the People's Republic of China.
1 - عقد اجتماع إقليمي لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ موضوعه " تعزيز محو الأمية الصحية " في بيجين يومي 29 و 30 نيسان/أبريل 2009 واستضافته حكومة جمهورية الصين الشعبية كجزء من عملية الاستعراض الوزاري السنوي للمجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي.

The Annual Ministerial Review Regional Ministerial Meeting for Asia and the Pacific of the United Nations Economic and Social Council was held in Beijing on 29 and 30 April 2009 on the theme of promoting health literacy.
وعقد الاستعراض الوزاري السنوي للاجتماع الوزاري الإقليمي لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ التابع للمجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي بالأمم المتحدة في بيجين يومي 29 و 30 نيسان/أبريل 2009 حول موضوع تعزيز محو الأمية الصحية.

A statement on hazardous substances within the life cycle of electrical and electronic products was agreed on by country representatives during the second Asia-Pacific regional meeting on the Strategic Approach, held in Beijing on 23 and 24 November 2009.
وقد اتفق ممثلو البلدان خلال اجتماع آسيا والمحيط الهادئ الإقليمي الثاني للنهج الاستراتيجي، المعقود في بيجين يومي 23 و24 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2009، على بيان بشأن المواد الخطرة في دورة حياة المنتجات الكهربائية والإلكترونية.(5)

In cooperation with the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association, and with financial support from the Government of China, the Regional Centre organized a regional workshop for East and South-East Asia on Strengthening the Capacity of the Media in Advocating and Promoting Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific, held in Beijing on 20 and 21 January 2011.

In this context, ESCAP collaborated to organize two regional ministerial meetings: the first on the topic " Financing strategies for health care " held in Colombo from 16 to 18 March 2009, and hosted by the Government of Sri Lanka; and the second on the topic " Promoting health literacy " , held in Beijing on 29 and 30 April, and hosted by the Government of China.
