Guatemala welcomed, in particular, the decision taken by the General Assembly, in its resolution 49/214, to promote the involvement of indigenous people in the planning and implementation of projects concerning them, and the decision of the Economic and Social Council to encourage the specialized agencies to supply technical assistance to those people to promote their development.
وأضاف أن غواتيمالا ترحب بشكل خاص بما قررته الجمعية العامة، في قرارها ٤٩/٢١٤، من تشجيع مشاركة السكان اﻷصليين في تخطيط وتنفيذ المشاريع التي تؤثر عليهم، ولقرار المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي بحث الوكالات المتخصصة على تقديم المساعدة التقنية إلى هؤلاء السكان من أجل تعزيز تنميتهم.

)أ( أن يطلب إلى ممثلي اﻷمم المتحدة في البلدان التي يوجد فيها سكان أصليون القيام، من خلال القنوات الملائمة، بتشجيع زيادة مشاركة السكان اﻷصليين في تخطيط وتنفيذ المشاريع التي تمسهم؛

68. Bearing in mind the principle of free, prior and informed consent as enshrined in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Permanent Forum recommends that relevant UNICEF materials be translated into the languages of and made accessible to the indigenous peoples with whom the Fund is working so that they can participate fully in the planning and implementation of projects that directly or indirectly affect them.
68 - وإذ يضع المنتدى الدائم في اعتباره مبدأ الموافقة الحرة والمسبقة والمستنيرة على النحو المنصوص عليه في إعلان الأمم المتحدة بشأن حقوق الشعوب الأصلية، فهو يوصي بأن تترجم مواد اليونيسيف ذات الصلة إلى لغات الشعوب الأصلية التي تعمل معها اليونيسيف وأن تتاح لهذه الشعوب إمكانية الحصول عليها بحيث تتمكن من المشاركة الكاملة في تخطيط وتنفيذ المشاريع التي تؤثر عليها بشكل مباشر أو غير مباشر.
