In February 2001, the Office carried out an inspection of the programme management and administrative practices in the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention.

During the reporting period, OIOS carried out a review of programme management and administrative practices in the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention in Vienna, which included following up on recommendations of earlier in-depth evaluations as well as a 1997 review of programme management in the then Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Division.

Since the end of 2000, more attention has been given to evaluation and, in 2001, the Planning and Evaluation Unit of the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention was established to act as the focal point for evaluations.
