20- ومن منظور مواضيعي وتقني، قامت اليونيدو بتدعيم وتوسيع نطاق أنشطتها، ساعية إلى التوفيق بين الاستمرارية والاستجابة للاحتياجات الجديدة من حيث التكنولوجيا والمساعدة التقنية.

In order to strengthen investment promotion capacity in the region, UNIDO has also conducted a series of group training programmes on investment project preparation and appraisal with the participation of various regional institutions, such as the Islamic Development Bank and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa.

In connection with its technology promotion activities, UNIDO has also extended the operational phase of the International Centre for Advancement of Manufacturing Technology (ICAMT) for five years from 2008 to 2013, and of the Shanghai International IT Promotion Centre (SIITPC) for three years from 2008 to 2011.
9- وفيما يتعلق بأنشطة ترويج التكنولوجيا، قامت اليونيدو أيضاً بتمديد المرحلة العملياتية للمركز الدولي للارتقاء بتكنولوجيا الصناعة التحويلية لمدّة خمس سنوات، من 2008 إلى 2013، ولمركز شنغهاي الدولي لترويج تكنولوجيا المعلومات لمدّة ثلاث سنوات، من 2008 إلى 2011.

In this regard, UNIDO has formulated and implemented several programmes in developing countries and economies in transition, particularly addressing competitiveness and privatization issues, regional integration, rural industrialization, enhancement of the role of women in industry, support to small— and medium—scale industry, investment promotion and human resources development.
٢- وفي هذا الصدد، قامت اليونيدو بوضع وتنفيذ برامج عديدة في البلدان النامية والاقتصادات التي تمر بمرحلة انتقالية، تعمل بصفة خاصة على التصدي لقضايا القدرة على المنافسة والخصخصة، والتكامل الاقليمي، والتصنيع الريفي، وتعزيز دور المرأة في الصناعة، ودعم الصناعة الصغيرة والمتوسطة الحجم، وتشجيع الاستثمار وتنمية الموارد البشرية.

47. Under the auspices of GEF, UNIDO has also developed a comprehensive study on indicators of sustainability for the mineral extractive industry to address sustainable development issues associated with the extraction and processing of mineral commodities that are of major concern to mining enterprises and mining communities, in an attempt to design sustainably sound processes and products.
47- وبرعاية مرفق البيئة العالمية قامت اليونيدو أيضا بدراسة شاملة عن مؤشرات الاستدامة للصناعة التعدينية الاستخراجية لتناول مواضيع التنمية المستدامة المرتبطة باستخراج ومعالجة السلع الأساسية المعدنية التي تمثل شاغلا من الشواغل الكبرى لدى شركات التعدين وأوساط التعدين، في محاولة لتصميم عمليات ونواتج سليمة من حيث الاستدامة.

Through the appointment of the Director-General of UNIDO as chair of UN-Energy, UNIDO has also been actively involved in promoting United Nations system-wide collaboration in the field of energy with a coherent and consistent approach on key issues, and has led consultations on industrial energy efficiency and technology transfer issues.

Under this programme, UNIDO has designed renewable energy projects in nine countries of West Africa (where the Organization is the implementing agency in renewable energy projects under the GEF Strategic Programme) including Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone and in addition a tenth project called the Regional Coordination Project in the West African Region.

UNIDO had also operated a mini-hydropower centre in China for the past 20 years.

Since then, UNIDO had done commendable work, completing 141 projects, with a further 21 currently in progress.
