The Statistical Commission had been tasked with elaborating a work programme to achieve that goal, and France believed that the recommendations of the Commission on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress could provide useful input to that process.

As Chair of the Commission on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress which in 2009 had informed the General Assembly of possible solutions to the more systemic problems underlying the 2008 and 2009 crisis, he would be able to shed valuable light on the current challenges.

33. At its 5th meeting, on 24 February, the Commission took note of the note by the Secretary-General transmitting the report of France on the Measurement of Economic Performance and social progress (E/CN.3/2011/35) (see chap. I, sect. B, decision 42/115).
