However, these incidents and the related escape from arrest of former Armed Forces Revolutionary Council/ex-Sierra Leone Army (AFRC/ex-SLA) leader Johnny Paul Koroma continued to serve as a reminder of the significant challenges that face Sierra Leone's security sector.

However, the summit had to be postponed following the failure of seven of the nine Heads of State to attend and the refusal of Councilman Taylor and Councilman Kromah to travel to Accra for the meeting.

Reports have been received of fighting among elements of ULIMO-J and with General Alhaji Kromah's wing of ULIMO (ULIMO-K) over control of the area.

In the meantime, Alhaji Kromah travelled to Abuja and other West African capitals to consult ECOWAS Governments on the situation in Liberia.
