21. In 1993, the Programme carried on, as it had in 1992, its close cooperation with the Government of Ecuador to promote cooperation between Ecuador and all the countries that are within the foot-print of the Cotopaxi Ground Receiving Station.

With regard to human rights violations by peasants' defence groups (Juritas del Campesinado) belonging to indigenous communities, the Public Prosecutor's Office has established a prosecution service for indigenous persons in the Province of Tungurahua, and plans are under way to set up others in the Provinces of Cotopaxi, Chimborazo and Imbabura.

It is based in Quito, the capital city of the Republic of Ecuador, and administers the Cotopaxi satellite data receiving, recording and processing station, which is located 70 kilometres south of Quito.

On the basis of this report, CAF recently approved a technical cooperation fund to finance the feasibility study and other substantive actions necessary for the establishment of the Multi-Andean Enterprise (MAE) within which the Cotopaxi station will operate.
واستنادا الى هــذا التقرير، وافقت شركة تنمية اﻷنديز مؤخرا على إنشاء صندوق للتعاون التقني لتمويل دراسة الجدوى وغيرها من اﻷعمال الفنية اللازمة ﻹنشاء مؤسسة اﻷنديز المتعددة البلدان التي ستعمل في إطارها محطة كوتوباكسي.

In this context, I would like to refer to the establishment of an Andean subregional enterprise, or some other type of association, which would make it possible to exploit and use the satellite products of the Cotopaxi ground receiving station, which is located in Ecuador.

In view of the problem of female workers in flower growing businesses, the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources, acting through the Labour Prevention Department, carried out a series of inspections among flower producers and exporters in December 1998, visiting 121 firms in Pichincha, nine in Cotopaxi and 20 in Imbabura.

According to the Department of Education in Ecuador's Cotopaxi Province, 526 rural children did not go to school in 2003 because the schools were too far away.
