Article 24 of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime places an obligation on each State party to take appropriate measures within its means to provide effective protection from potential retaliation or intimidation for witnesses in criminal proceedings who give testimony concerning offences covered by the Convention and, as appropriate, for their relatives and other persons close to them.
39- وتفرض المادة 24 من اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة الجريمة المنظمة عبر الوطنية التزاما على كل دولة طرف باتخاذ تدابير ملائمة في حدود إمكانياتها لتوفير حماية فعالة للشهود الذين يدلون في الإجراءات الجنائية بشهادة بخصوص الجرائم المشمولة بهذه الاتفاقية، وكذلك لأقاربهم وسائر الأشخاص الوثيقي الصلة بهم، حسب الاقتضاء، من أي انتقام أو ترهيب محتمل.

1. Each State party shall take appropriate measures in accordance with its national law and within its means to provide effective protection from potential retaliation or intimidation for witnesses who give testimony concerning crimes set out in article 3 and, as appropriate, for their relatives and other persons close to them, without prejudice to the rights of the alleged offender, including the right to due process.
