At the outset, I should like to extend on behalf of the Conference, and on my own behalf, a warm welcome to our distinguished visitor today, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy, His Excellency Mr. Lamberto Dini, who will be our first speaker.
وأود في البداية الاعراب، بالنيابة عن المؤتمر وباﻹصالة عن نفسي، عن ترحيبي الحار اليوم بزائرنا الموقر، صاحب المعالي السيد لامبرتو ديني وزير خارجية إيطاليا، الذي سيكون أول المتكلمين أمامنا.

In this regard, my delegation wishes to take this opportunity to express its appreciation for the important and inspiring statement of the honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, His Excellency Lamberto Dini.
وفي هذا الخصوص، يرغب وفدي في اغتنام هذه الفرصة لﻹعراب عن تقديري للبيان الهام والملهم الذي أدلى به وزير خارجية إيطاليا المحترم، صاحب المعالي لامبرتو ديني.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome in our midst His Excellency Mr. Lamberto Dini, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy, and to listen with interest to his statement, which no doubt constitutes an important contribution to the work of the Conference on Disarmament.
وأود أن أغتنم هذه الفرصة ﻷرحب بين ظهرانينا بصاحب المعالي السيد لامبرتو ديني وزير خارجية ايطاليا، الذي أصغيت باهتمام إلى بيانه الذي يشكل دون شك مساهمة هامة في عمل مؤتمر نزع السلاح.

The Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lamberto Dini, when taking part in the inaugural debate of the last session, did not fail to address a fervent appeal to all member countries to overcome ideological confrontations and other aprioristic attitudes which seem to be the basic obstacle to the fruitful development of our activity.
عندما اشترك وزير خارجية إيطاليا لامبرتو ديني في المناقشة الافتتاحية للدورة اﻷخيرة لم يفته أن يوجه نداء حماسيا إلى جميع البلدان اﻷعضاء يناشدها فيه أن تتغلب على المجابهات اﻷيديولوجية وغيرها من المواقف الذهبية التي تشكل فيما يبدو العقبة اﻷساسية التي تعرقل التطوير المثمر لنشاطنا.

The Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lamberto Dini, when taking part in the inaugural debate of the present session, did not fail to address a fervent appeal to all member countries to overcome ideological confrontations and other prejudiced attitudes which seem to be the basic obstacles to fruitful development of our activity.
إن وزير خارجية ايطاليا، السيد لامبرتو ديني عندما اشترك في المناقشة الافتتاحية لهذه الدورة، لم يفته أن يوجه نداءً حاراً إلى جميع البلدان اﻷعضاء من أجل تجاوز مواجهاتها الايديولوجية، والتخلص من مواقفها المسبقة اﻷخرى التي يبدو أنها تشكل العقبات اﻷساسية أمام التطور المثمر لنشاطنا.

This is why — and I am referring to the words of the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lamberto Dini — we urge everyone to be specific and to embark on negotiations for which we feel, along with others, that the time is now ripe.
وهذا هو السبب الذي يدفعنا - وأنا أستشهد بكلمات وزير الخارجية الايطالي لامبرتو ديني - إلى حث الجميع على الانتقال إلى التفاصيل وبدء مفاوضات نشعر مع آخرين أن أوانها قد حان.

Italy remains convinced of the validity of its own proposal; but, as Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini said to the General Assembly one month ago, we are also prepared to accept another formula that would be consistent with the fundamental principles of our proposal — the principles of democracy, equitable geographic representation, effectiveness, efficiency and transparency.
ولا تزال ايطاليا مقتنعة بنجاعة مقترحها؛ ولكننا على استعداد، كما قال وزير الخارجية لامبرتو ديني أمام الجمعية العامة قبل شهر، لقبول صيغة أخرى تتسق والمبادئ اﻷساسية لمقترحنا، وهي مبادئ الديمقراطية والتمثيل الجغرافي المنصف، والفعالية والكفاءة والشفافية.

In Florence on 13 and 14 June 1996, under the chairmanship of the Italian Foreign Minister, Mr. Lamberto Dini, the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) conducted a mid-term review of progress in implementation of the Peace Agreement for Bosnia and Herzegovina, in accordance with its decision taken at its meeting in London on 8 and 9 December 1995.
١ - أجرى مجلس تنفيذ السلام برئاسة وزير خارجية إيطاليا السيد لامبرتو ديني في ١٣ و ١٤ حزيران/يونيه ١٩٩٦، بفلورنسا، استعراض منتصف المدة لما أحرز من تقدم في تنفيذ اتفاق السلام في البوسنة والهرسك، طبقا للقرار الذي اتخذه خلال الاجتماع الذي عقده في لندن في ٨ و ٩ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٥.

Hence, our recent offer of confederation, implying a movement in the direction of unity, but starting from the realities of Cyprus, from the existence of, in the words of the Foreign Minister of Italy, Mr. Lamberto Dini, two peoples, two democracies, two administrations in Cyprus.
ومن هذا المنحى، قمنا بالعرض اﻷخير المتعلق بالاتحاد التعاهدي، مما يتضمن تحركا في اتجاه الوحدة، وإن كان ذلك يستند إلى الحقائق القائمة في قبرص، أي إلى وجود شعبين وديمقراطيتين وإدارتين على أرض الجزيرة، كما سبق أن قال وزير خارجية إيطاليا - السيد لامبرتو ديني.

But looking at the immediate perspectives of the activity in this forum and notwithstanding the present difficulties for the launch of the numerous initiatives on hold, as additional potential factors for significant political successes and reaffirmation of the tasks of this Conference, I wish to recall the recent appeal of my Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lamberto Dini, in this forum.
لكني إذ أتطلع إلى اﻵفاق المرتقبة المباشرة للنشاط في هذا المحفل، على الرغم من الصعوبات الحالية التي تواجه عملية اطلاق المبادرات العديدة المعلقة، باعتبار هذه اﻵفاق عوامل إضافية محتملة لتحقيق نجاحات سياسية هامة، وإعادة تأكيد مهام المؤتمر، أود أن اشير إلى النداء الذي وجهه وزير خارجيتي لامبرتو ديني مؤخراً في هذا المحفل.

The Forum, organized by the Department of Public Information, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy and the Permanent Mission of Japan, will open on Thursday, 19 November, at 9.45 a.m. The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Dr. Didier Opertti, the Secretary-General, Mr. Kofi Annan, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy, H.E. Mr. Lamberto Dini, will address the Forum.
