26. The Advisory Committee for the Coordination of Information Systems (ACCIS) was established in 1983 by ACC in response to Economic and Social Council resolution 1982/71 of 10 November 1982.

9. At its first session in March 1994, the Information Systems Coordination Committee, established on the recommendation of the Task Force to replace the Advisory Committee for the Coordination of Information Systems, endorsed the above recommendation.

The information system security guidelines for the United Nations organizations prepared by the Advisory Committee for the Coordination of Information Systems and endorsed by the Administrative Committee on Coordination have been designed to provide guidance to all those initiating, managing, maintaining and auditing information security within the United Nations organizations.
