In accordance with article 20 of its statute, the Unit’s budget is included in the regular budget of the United Nations, and its budget estimates are established by the Secretary-General after consultation with the Administrative Committee on Coordination on the basis of proposals made by the Unit.

The comments of the Administrative Committee on Coordination (ACC) on the report (A/50/721/Add.1) confirmed the importance of the JIU recommendations.
