Regarding reservations to international conventions, her delegation continued to favour the language used in previous years in resolutions of the Commission on Human Rights or the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, which allowed for reservations, provided they were not incompatible with the object and purpose of the Convention.

268. The Government must cooperate with all the United Nations mechanisms for the protection of human rights, and submit in due time the reports required of it either in compliance with its obligations under human rights conventions or by virtue of resolutions adopted by the Commission on Human Rights or other United Nations bodies.

Cuba has traditionally co-sponsored the resolutions submitted to the Commission on Human Rights and to the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, on the use of mercenaries as a means of violating human rights and impeding the exercise of the right of peoples to self-determination.

(c) Board members who are respected United Nations experts in the field of contemporary forms of slavery, if needed, establish direct contacts with project leaders: in the field, during sessions of the Board, or at the sessions of the Working Group, the Commission on Human Rights and the Subcommission on the Promotion and the Protection of Human Rights, in order to better evaluate the use of the grants.

82. An individual who considers that any of his or her rights protected by the Human Rights Act 1993 have been violated may complain to the Human Rights Commission or the Race Relations Office.
