70. The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the Subcommission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities and the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance are invited to undertake studies and to transmit their recommendations to the Commission at its fifty-fifth session.
٧٠ - ومطلوب من لجنة القضاء على التمييز العنصري، واللجنة الفرعية لمنع التمييز وحماية اﻷقليات، والمقرر الخاص للجنة حقوق اﻹنسان المعني باﻷشكال المعاصرة للعنصرية والتمييز العنصري وكراهية اﻷجانب وما يتصل بذلك من تعصب، الاضطلاع بدراسات وتقديم توصيات إلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين.

At its substantive session of 1998, the Economic and Social Council endorsed the Commission’s decision to extend for a further year the mandate of the Special Representative of the Commission on the situation of human rights in Rwanda, and to request the Special Representative to report to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session and to the Commission at its fifty-fifth session (Council decision 1998/265).
في دورته الموضوعية لعام ١٩٩٨ أيد المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي قرار اللجنة بتمديد ولاية المقرر الخاص المعني بحالة حقوق اﻹنسان في رواندا لمدة سنة إضافية، وبأن تطلب إليه أن يقدم تقريرا إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين وإلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين )مقرر المجلس ١٩٩٨/٢٦٥(.

The Council also approves the Commission's requests to the Special Rapporteur to report to the Commission on the future need for human rights field officers, with the understanding that the Commission will, at its fifty-fifth session, reassess such need, and to report his findings and recommendations to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session and to the Commission at its fifty-fifth session.
يوافق المجلس أيضا على طلب اللجنة من المقرر الخاص أن يقدم إلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان تقريرا عن الحاجة في المستقبل إلى الموظفين الميدانيين لحقوق اﻹنسان، علما بأن اللجنة ستعيد تقييم هذه الحاجة في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين، وأن يقدم استنتاجاته وتوصياته إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين وإلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين.

It also has sought to adopt a consistent approach in seeking to balance the benefits of continuity with the benefits of renewal: following the decision of the Commission at its fiftyfifth session to introduce time limits for Special Rapporteurs, the Working Group recommends time limits for membership of special procedures working groups.

By decision 1998/274, the Council, taking note of Commission on Human Rights resolution 1998/82, endorsed the Commission’s decision to extend the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Burundi for one year and to request him to submit an interim report to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session and a report to the Commission at its fifty-fifth session.
بعد أن أحاط المجلس علما، في المقرر ٨٩٩١/٤٧٢، بقرار لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان ٨٩٩١/٢٨، أيﱠد المجلس قرار اللجنة بتمديد ولاية المقرر الخاص المعني بحالات حقوق اﻹنسان في بوروندي لمدة سنة واحدة وبأن تطلب إليه أن يقدم تقريرا مؤقتا إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين وتقريرا إلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين.

)ب( وافق على طلب اللجنة من المقرر الخاص أن يقدم إلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان تقريرا عن الحاجة في المستقبل إلى الموظفين الميدانيين لحقوق اﻹنسان، علما بأن اللجنة ستعيد تقييم هذه الحاجة في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين، وأن يقدم استنتاجاته وتوصياته إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين وإلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين.

1. In paragraph 52 of its resolution 1998/26, the Commission on Human Rights invited the SubCommission to carry out studies without delay, within the framework of the objectives laid down in General Assembly resolution 52/111, and to submit its recommendations to the Commission at its fiftyfifth session and, through the Commission, to the Preparatory Committee.
