OIOS investigators assisted United States law enforcement authorities in the preparation of the criminal proceedings against a Chase Manhattan Bank customer who had been the erroneous recipient of over $700,000 in contributions made by several Member States for deposit in the UNEP Trust Fund account at the bank.
131- بمساعدة سلطات إنفاذ القانون في الولايات المتحدة قام محققو المكتب بتحضير الدعوى الجنائية ضد عميل لمصرف Chase Manhattanكان قد تلقى خطأ ما يزيد على 000 700 دولار مجموع التبرعات التي قدمتها عدة دول أعضاء لإيداعها في المصرف لحساب الصندوق الاستئماني لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة.

In a letter dated 16 June 1999, the Ministry of the Environment of Finland instructed its finance section to make a payment of EUR 5,000 to the UNEP Trust Fund account but cited number 001X rather than 0011X.

On the proposal of the Chairman, the Committee decided, without a vote, to recommend to the General Assembly, that it take note with appreciation of the report of the Office of Internal Oversight Services on the investigation into the misdirection of Member States' contributions to the UNEP Trust Fund account, contained in document A/55/353.
