UNHRP will consolidate and build upon the ongoing work of the two United Nations bodies in the area of housing rights and will, inter alia, strengthen the link with human rights treaty bodies and support the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing.

III. ACTIONS TO PROMOTE THE PROGRESSIVE REALIZATION OF housing rights 69 - 100 25

From a human rights standpoint, issues of non-discrimination and of governance are important components in developing strategies for the progressive realization of housing rights.

UN-HABITAT, focusing on inclusiveness in human settlements and social integration and the realization of housing rights, undertakes its activities related to indigenous peoples within three initiatives, the Global Campaign on Urban Governance, the Global Campaign for Secure Tenure and the United Nations housing rights Programme.

D. United Nations housing rights Programme

In this context, the Special Rapporteur expresses his interest and willingness to contribute to the first session of the Urban Forum and to benefit from this opportunity to continue to collect best practices and experiences among Governments and Habitat partners in their efforts towards progressive realization of housing rights.
