23. The speedy implementation of the new START Treaty and the additional efforts of the nuclear-weapon States to reduce their nuclear arsenals could help build trust and strengthen international security.
23 - وأضاف أن الإسراع بتنفيذ معاهدة " ستارت " الجديدة وقيام الدول الحائزة للأسلحة النووية ببذل جهود إضافية لخفض ترساناتها النووية يمكن أن يساعدا في بناء الثقة وتعزيز الأمن الدولي.

18. While welcoming the steps the Nuclear Weapon States have taken so far to reduce their nuclear arsenals (both by dismantling nuclear weapons as by destruction of fissile material and closing down production facilities), we encourage the Nuclear weapon States to continue their efforts in this respect.
18- وبينما نرحب بالخطوات التي اتخذتها الدول الحائزة للأسلحة النووية حتى الآن لخفض ترساناتها النووية (عن طريق تفكيك الأسلحة النووية وتدمير الأسلحة الانشطارية وإغلاق مرافق الإنتاج على حد سواء) نشجع الدول الحائزة للأسلحة النووية على مواصلة جهودها في هذا الخصوص.

The nuclear-weapon States have a positive role to play in this regard and should demonstrate leadership by committing themselves to nuclear disarmament through a phased programme of reduction of their nuclear arsenals within a specified period of time, culminating in their total elimination.
وللدول الحائزة للأسلحة النووية دور تؤديه في هذا الشأن وينبغي أن تبرهن على ريادتها من خلال التزامها بنزع السلاح النووي عبر اعتماد برنامج لخفض ترساناتها النووية على مراحل ضمن فترة زمنية محددة يتوَّج بالقضاء على تلك الأسلحة تماما.
