The Maori language Act 1987 declared the Maori language to be an official language of New Zealand, conferred the right to speak Maori in certain legal proceedings, and established a special Maori language Commission to develop and promote the language.
617- ونص قانون لغة الماوري لعام 1987 على أن لغة الماوري لغة رسمية في نيوزيلندا، وعلى منح الحق في التحدث بهذه اللغة في إجراءات قانونية معينة، وعلى إنشاء لجنة خاصة بلغة الماوري لتطوير وترويج هذه اللغة.

The Maori Land Court is the only Maori court; it deals with land issues and its transactions are carried out in a traditional and appropriate manner, including the use of the Maori language.
