Accordingly, the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei continued to maintain security in the Abyei Area and support the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement on Temporary Arrangements for the Administration and Security of the Abyei Area of 20 June 2011.

2. The mission is mandated to help the Security Council achieve an overall objective, namely, support for the implementation of the 20 June 2011 Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement on Temporary Arrangements for the Administration and Security of the Abyei Area, to allow for returns, ensure the protection of civilians and support the peaceful administration of the Abyei Area.

13. On 20 June 2011, with the assistance of the African Union High-level Implementation Panel, the Government of the Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement on Temporary Arrangements for the Administration and Security of the Abyei Area.
13 - وفي 20 حزيران/يونيه 2011، وقّّعت حكومة السودان والحركة الشعبية لتحرير السودان، بمساعدة الفريق الرفيع المستوى المعني بالتنفيذ التابع للاتحاد الأفريقي، الاتفاق بين حكومة جمهورية السودان والحركة الشعبية لتحرير السودان بشأن الترتيبات المؤقتة للإدارة والأمن في منطقة أبيي.

(b) Ensure that the Abyei Area is fully demilitarized in conformity with paragraph 2 (a) of Security Council resolution 1990 (2011) and paragraph 20 of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement on temporary arrangements for the Administration and Security of the Abyei Area, concluded in Addis Ababa on 20 June 2011.

Meanwhile, two outstanding issues remained: (a) the implementation of the Agreement on Temporary Arrangements for the Administration and Security of the Abyei Area of 20 June 2011 and the final status of the territory; and (b) the conflict in the Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile States of the Sudan.

1. The present report is submitted pursuant to paragraph 11 of Security Council resolution 1990 (2011), in which the Council requested that it be kept regularly informed of progress in the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) on Temporary Arrangements for the Administration and Security of the Abyei Area, signed on 20 June 2011 in Addis Ababa.
1 - يقدم هذا التقرير عملا بالفقرة 11 من قرار مجلس الأمن 1990 (2011) التي طلب فيها المجلس إطلاعه بانتظام على التقدّم المحرز في تنفيذ الاتفاق المبرم بين حكومة السودان والحركة الشعبية لتحرير السودان بشأن الترتيبات المؤقتة للإدارة والأمن في منطقة أبيي، الذي وُقِّع في 20 حزيران/يونيه 2011 في أديس أبابا.

168. On 17 March, the Council issued a statement to the press, in which its members expressed their grave concern about the highly volatile security and humanitarian situation in the Abyei area and called upon the Sudan and South Sudan to implement pending aspects of the Agreement on Temporary Arrangements for the Administration and Security of the Abyei Area of 20 June 2011.
١٦٨ - وفي 17 آذار/مارس، أصدر المجلس بيانا صحفيا أعرب فيه الأعضاء عما يساورهم من قلق بالغ إزاء التقلب الشديد في الحالة الأمنية والإنسانية في منطقة أبيي، ودعوا السودان وجنوب السودان إلى تنفيذ الجوانب التي لم تنفذ بعد من الاتفاق المتعلق بالترتيبات المؤقتة للإدارة والأمن في منطقة أبيي المبرم في 20 حزيران/يونيه 2011.
