Since the establishment of the Korean Committee on Marine Geographical Names in 2002 and its subsequent incorporation into the Korea Committee on Geographical Names in 2010, a total of 671 marine geographical names (469 maritime feature names and 202 undersea feature names) have been approved for official use in the Republic of Korea.
