11. Subsequent to the 7 June joint meeting, the fourth meeting of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee was held in Addis Ababa on 8 June.

27. The fifth meeting of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee was an opportunity to underscore the crucial importance for it to take the lead in establishing intercommunity dialogue between Ngok Dinka and Misseriya traditional leaders, preferably before the rainy season.

The parties delegated the issues on the agenda (the Abyei Police Service, humanitarian access and support to displaced persons, and the Joint Military Observer Committee) to the respective specialized committees of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee for further discussion prior to the holding of the fifth meeting.

19. On 5 April, further to reports of a planned student visit from Khartoum to the Abyei Area, the South Sudan Co-Chair of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee submitted a letter of protest to the Sudan Co-Chair and UNISFA, stating that the Government of South Sudan was never consulted on this matter and that it should be postponed in order to avoid any security incidents.
