The fifty-fifth session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee was held in London from 9 to 13 October 2006.

I would like to say a few words about the decisions of the fifty-second session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and about recognizing particularly sensitive Western European sea areas.
أود أن أقول بضع عبارات بشأن قرارات الدورة الثانية والخمسين للجنة حماية البيئة البحرية التابعة للمنظمة البحرية الدولية وبشأن الاعتراف بالمناطق البحرية ذات الحساسية الخاصة في غرب أوروبا.

International Association of Ports and Harbors also attended the fifty-ninth session of Marine Environment Protection Committee, IMO, to discuss a range of issues for the enhancement of maritime environment, held in 2009, in London.
كما حضرت الرابطة الدورة التاسعة والخمسين للجنة حماية البيئة البحرية التابعة للمنظمة البحرية الدولية لمناقشة طائفة من المسائل من أجل تعزيز البيئية البحرية، المعقودة في لندن عام 2009.

The Secretariat, therefore, participated in the inter-sessional correspondence group established at the fifty-fourth session of MEPC.

The Secretariat will also report to the Conference on the outcome of the fifty-fifth session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee of the IMO, which has been tasked by the IMO Assembly to develop a legally-binding instrument on ship recycling.

As indicated above, work on the draft convention and related guidelines will continue at the fifty-sixth session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee.

The proposals were submitted at the forty-ninth session of the IMO Marine Environment Protection Committee in July this year.
وقد قدمت تلك الاقتراحات في الدورة التاسعة والأربعين للجنة حماية البيئة البحرية التابعة للمنظمة البحرية الدولية، في تموز/يوليه من هذا العام.

The Working Group on Ship Recycling established at the fifty-second session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee agreed that a mandatory scheme should be developed in accordance with the following basic principles:

3. Agreed to re-establish the Working Group on Ship Recycling at the fifty-third session of MEPC.
3 - وافقت على إعادة تشكيل فريق عامل معني بإعادة تدوير السفن أثناء الدورة الثانية والخمسين للجنة حماية البيئة البحرية.

A proposed draft text for a new legally binding instrument for safe and environmentally sound recycling of ships was submitted by Norway and first considered substantively at the fifty-fourth session of MEPC.
16 - قدمت النرويج مشروع نص صك ملزم قانونا بشأن إعادة تدوير السفن بصورة آمنة وسليمة بيئيا وتم النظر فيه للمرة الأولى بشكل موضوعي في الدورة الرابعة والخمسين للجنة حماية البيئة البحرية.

The issue of abandoned ships will be further considered at the fifty-fifth session of MEPC, which will be held from 9 to 13 October 2006.
وسيتواصل النظر في قضية السفن المتخلى عنها في الدورة الخامسة والخمسين للجنة حماية البيئة البحرية التي ستعقد في الفترة من 9 إلى 13 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2006.

A correspondence group was established to work on the draft instrument between sessions and to develop a provisional list of necessary guidelines for the next session of MEPC in October 2006.

186. an MEPC correspondence group on reception facilities has been working on the guidelines, which contain information for the provision and improvement of port waste reception facilities and provide information relating to the ongoing management of existing facilities, as well as for the planning and establishment of new facilities.
186 - ويعكف فريق مراسل معني بمرافق الاستقبال تابع للجنة حماية البيئة البحرية على وضع هذه المبادئ التوجيهية التي تشتمل على معلومات تتصل بتوفير وتحسين مرافق استقبال النفايات في المواني وتقدم معلومات تتصل بالإدارة الحالية للمرافق القائمة، وكذلك بتخطيط وإنشاء مرافق جديدة.

Regarding the establishment of a ship recycling fund, the Group was of the opinion that all efforts should be focused on the further consideration by IMO of the proposal agreed to in principle by MEPC at its fifty-second session.
وفيما يتعلق بإنشاء صندوق لإعادة تدوير السفن، رأى الفريق أنه ينبغي تركيز كل الجهود على مواصلة نظر المنظمة البحرية الدولية في المقترح الذي وافقت عليه من حيث المبدأ الدورة الثانيـة والخمسـون للجنة حماية البيئة البحرية.

In the Baltic Sea region, the Ministerial Meeting of the Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission in May 2010 evaluated the first results of the implementation of its action plan, which included progress in implementing a road map towards a harmonized implementation and ratification of the Ballast Water Management Convention.
