Report of the Secretary-General on the proposed programme of work and organizational modalities for the open-ended ad hoc Intergovernmental Forum on Forests of the Commission on Sustainable Development (E/CN.17/IFF/1997/2)

The Workshop focused on sustainable forest management practices at the field level, in order to distil lessons and experience which might provide some insight to the Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Panel on Forests of the Commission for Sustainable Development when it formulates recommendations at its fourth session, which will be held from 11 to 21 February 1997.
وركزت حلقة العمل على ممارسات اﻹدارة المستدامة للغابات على الصعيد الميداني من أجل استخلاص دروس وخبرات ربما تزود الفريق الحكومي الدولي المخصص للغابات التابع للجنة التنمية المستدامة ببعض اﻵراء المستنيرة عندما يقوم بوضع توصياته أثناء دورته الرابعة التي ستعقد في الفترة من ١١ إلى ٢١ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٧.

4. The report takes into consideration paragraphs 11 and 15 of the Statement on Biodiversity and Forests from the Convention on Biological Diversity to the Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Panel on Forests of the Commission on Sustainable Development (E/CN.17/IPF/1996/9, annex).

5. The report takes into consideration paragraphs 11 and 15 of the Statement on biodiversity and forests from the Convention on Biological Diversity to the Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Panel on Forests of the Commission on Sustainable Development (E/CN.17/IPF/1996/9 and Corr.1, annex).

In that regard, her delegation hoped that the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, in which Peru had introduced a proposal on the reduction of greenhouse gases, would adopt realistic agreements that would benefit mankind. Peru also participated actively in the meetings of the Intergovernmental Forum on Forests of the Commission on Sustainable Development.

Takes note of the results of the first meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice, held at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Paris from 4 to 8 September 1995, including its medium-term programme of work for 1996-1997 and its contribution to the Open-ended Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Panel on Forests of the Commission on Sustainable Development;
٣ - تحيط علما بنتائج الاجتماع اﻷول للهيئة الفرعية المعنية بالمشورة العلمية والتقنية والتكنولوجية، المعقود في مقر منظمة اﻷمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة في باريس في الفترة من ٤ إلى ٨ أيلول/سبتمبر ٥٩٩١، بما فيها برنامج العمل المتوسط اﻷجل للفترة ٦٩٩١-٧٩٩١، ومساهمتها في فريق الخبراء الحكومي الدولي المفتوح باب العضوية المخصص للغابات التابع للجنة التنمية المستدامة؛

46. During 1997, the UNDP Global Programme on Forests was formulated and approved as an integral part of the report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Forests (IPF), approved by the General Assembly at its special session in June 1997, and the Interagency Partnership to implement IPF recommendations.
