14. The Regional Programme of Action for the Women of Latin America and the Caribbean, 1995-2001 states:
١٤ - وينص برنامج العمل اﻹقليمي للمرأة في أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي، ١٩٩٥-٢٠٠١، على ما يلي:

The basic objective of this meeting was to evaluate the progress made since the seventh session of the Regional Conference and since the Fourth World Conference on Women, with a view to submitting recommendations aimed at accelerating the process of change with respect to the situation of women, in accordance with the Regional Programme of Action for the Women of Latin America and the Caribbean.
وقد كان الهدف الرئيسي لهذا المؤتمر هو تقييم أوجه التقدم التي أُحرزت منذ انعقاد المؤتمر الإقليمي السابع والمؤتمر العالمي الرابع المعني بالمرأة، بغية تقديم توصيات للإسراع بعملية تغيير حالة المرأة، وفقا لما نص عليه برنامج العمل الإقليمي للمرأة في أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي.

The regional conference, which meets every three years, aims at implementing the regional Platform of Action for the Women of Latin America and the Caribbean, 1995-2001, and the Beijing Platform for Action.
ويستهدف المؤتمر اﻹقليمي الذي يجتمع مرة كل ثلاث سنوات تنفيذ منهاج العمل اﻹقليمي للمرأة في أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي، ١٩٩٥ - ٢٠٠١، ومنهاج عمل بيجين.

166. ECLAC’s follow-up activities to the Beijing Conference are aimed at the implementation both of the Regional Programme of Action for the Women of Latin America and the Caribbean, 1995-2001 and of the Platform for Action.

Mexico had also participated actively in the Inter-American Commission of Women and had chaired the Ninth Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, which had adopted the Mexico Consensus as the women's agenda for the region.
