As concerns the death penalty, the Special Rapporteur would like to emphasize once again the importance of full fair trial guarantees in proceedings leading to the imposition of capital punishment and the need to verify the respect for these guarantees in each case where a breach of internationally recognized fair trial standards is alleged.
