(a) For accurate financial reporting, provision should be made in the financial statements for delays in the collection of assessed contributions in accordance with the requirements of the United Nations accounting standards;

26. The Board reiterates its previous recommendation that the Administration keep under review the possibility of creating a provision for delays in the collection of outstanding assessments, and thus provide accurate measurement and disclosure of long outstanding assessed contributions receivable.

(i) No provision has been made for delays in the collection of assessed contributions receivable from Member States as at 30 June 1997 despite the declaration from some Member States that they did not intend to pay assessed contributions totalling $116.1 million, comprising $67.5 million in the special account for unpaid assessed contributions and $48.6 million included in the unpaid assessed contributions.

This position was again reiterated in paragraph 3 of its resolution 62/223 B. Accordingly, the Board has refrained from making a new recommendation with regard to a provision for delays in the collection of outstanding assessments and has classified its previous recommendation (A/63/5 (Vol. II), para. 26) as overtaken by events in annex II to the present report.
وعبّرت عن هذا الموقف مجددا في الفقرة 3 من قرارها 62/223 باء. وتبعا لذلك، امتنع المجلس عن تقديم توصية جديدة فيما يتعلق بإمكانية تخصيص اعتماد لمواجهة حالات التأخير في تحصيل الاشتراكات المقررة غير المسددة، وصنّف توصيته السابقة (A/63/5 (Vol.II)، الفقرة 26)، في المرفق الثاني من هذا التقرير، على أنها تجاوزتها الأحداث.

Note 2 (l) (iii) to the financial statements states that it is " the policy of the United Nations not to make provision for delays in collection of such assessments " .
