وإذ تشير الى الدور الرئيسي لﻷمم المتحدة في ميدان نزع السلاح النووي، وبصفة خاصة في وقف جميع تجارب التفجيرات النووية، وإلى الجهود الدؤوبة التي تبذلها المنظمات غير الحكومية من أجل التوصل الى معاهدة حظر شامل للتجارب النووية،

By the end of the 1950s, the General Assembly had called for general and complete disarmament under effective international control to be the basic goal of the United Nations in the field of disarmament.
فقد دعت الجمعية العامة، بنهاية الخمسينات، إلى اعتبار نزع السلاح العام والكامل، تحت رقابة دولية فعالة، هدفا أساسيا لﻷمم المتحدة في ميدان نزع السلاح.

Since that time, a comprehensive test ban has remained one of the highest priority objectives of the United Nations in the field of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
ومنذ ذلك الوقت، ظل الحظر الشامل للتجارب من بين اﻷهداف ذات اﻷولوية العليا لﻷمم المتحدة في ميدان نزع السلاح النووي ومنع الانتشار.

In this connection the view was expressed that the elimination of nuclear weapons was the first priority for the United Nations in the field of disarmament, in accordance with the final document of the first special session of the General Assembly devoted to disarmament, of 1978, which had the consensus of the Member States of the Organization.
وفي هذا الصدد، أُعرب عن رأي مفاده أن إزالة اﻷسلحة النووية هي اﻷولوية اﻷولى لﻷمم المتحدة في ميدان نزع السلاح، وفقا للوثيقة الختامية للدورة الاستثنائية اﻷولى للجمعية العامة المكرسة لنزع السلاح في عام ١٩٧٨، وهي وثيقة توافقت بشأنها آراء الدول اﻷعضاء في المنظمة.

" 10. The General Assembly constitutes the main deliberative organ of the United Nations in the field of disarmament and should continue to promote disarmament and to facilitate the achievement of disarmament agreements among States, by the following means:
