Today we are going to bid farewell to our distinguished colleague Ambassador Markku Reimaa, who will soon complete his duties as the Permanent Representative of Finland to the Conference on Disarmament.

I have asked for the floor to provide certain clarifications on the position expressed by the delegation of Brazil during the informal consultations on 23 May 2002, relating to proposals by your predecessor, the distinguished Permanent Representative of Finland, Ambassador Markku Reimaa.

2. The Conference elected Mr. Markku Reimaa (Finland) as the Chairman of the Committee; Mr. Igor Dzundev (The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) and Mr. Hamid Baedi Nejad (Islamic Republic of Iran) served as Vice-Chairmen.

32. The States Parties decided to designate Ambassador Gordan Markotić of Croatia as Chairman of the Meeting of the States Parties to be held in 2004, and appointed Ambassador Markku Reimaa of Finland as Coordinator on Mines Other Than Anti-Personnel Mines.
32- وقررت الدول الأطراف تكليف السفير غوردان ماركوتيك ممثل كرواتيا رئيساً لاجتماع الدول الأطراف المقرر عقده في عام 2004 وعينت السفير ماركو ريما ممثل فنلندا منسقاً لشؤون الألغام غير الألغام المضادة للأفراد.

32. The Meeting of the States Parties decided to re-designate Ambassador Gordan Markotić of Croatia as Chairperson of the Meeting of the States Parties to be held in 2005, and reappointed Ambassador Jayant Prasad of India as Coordinator on Explosive Remnants of War and Ambassador Markku Reimaa of Finland as Coordinator on Mines Other Than Anti-Personnel Mines.
32- وقرر اجتماع الدول الأطراف إعادة تعيين السفير غوردان ماركوتيتش ممثل كرواتيا رئيساً لاجتماع الدول الأطراف المقرر عقده في عام 2005، وأعاد تعيين السفير جايانت براساد ممثل الهند منسقاً لشؤون المتفجرات من بقايا الحرب، والسفير ماركو ريما ممثل فنلندا منسقاً لشؤون الألغام غير الألغام المضادة للأفراد.

As the former President of the Conference on Disarmament, Ambassador Markku Reimaa of Finland, put it on 21 March 2002 in a statement welcoming the appointment of Mr. Sergei Ordzhonikidze as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament: " I am sure that the Conference will benefit immensely from his vast experience and his diplomatic skills. " Mr. Ordzhonikidze has not disappointed the hopes invested in him.
وقد جاء في كلمة للسيد ماركو ريما سفير فنلندا في جلسة 21 آذار/مارس 2002، بصفته رئيساً لمؤتمر نزع السلاح آنذاك، رحّب فيها بتعيين السيد سيرغي أوردزونيكيدزه كأمين عام لمؤتمر نزع السلاح ما يلي: " إني لعلى ثقة بأن المؤتمر سيجني فوائد جمّة من خبرته الواسعة ومن مهارته الدبلوماسية " .
