The President of the Council briefed the bureaux on the outcome of the Council open-ended consultation on the role of the Commission in the follow-up to the World Summit for the Information Society held the same day.
وقدم رئيس المجلس إحاطة إلى المكتبين بشأن نتائج عملية المجلس الاستشارية المفتوحة العضوية المتعلقة بدور اللجنة في متابعة نتائج مؤتمر القمة العالمي المعني بمجتمع المعلومات، التي انعقدت في اليوم نفسه.

Recalling also its resolution 2006/46 of 28 July 2006 entitled " follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society and review of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development " and the mandate that it gave to the Commission,

Recognizing that the organization of work of the Commission should contribute to advancing the implementation of the science and technology-related commitments contained in the 2005 World Summit Outcome,1 and the system-wide follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society,

The Council will also have before it the report of the Secretary-General on progress made in the follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society at the regional and international levels, which is based on executive summaries provided by United Nations entities and other stakeholders on their implementation activities (submitted through the Commission on Science and Technology for Development, pursuant to Council resolution 2009/7).
وسيعرض على المجلس تقرير الأمين العام عن التقدم المحرز في متابعة نتائج مؤتمر القمة العالمي المعني بمجتمع المعلومات على الصعيدين الإقليمي والدولي، الذي يستند إلى الموجزات التنفيذية المقدمة من هيئات الأمم المتحدة وأصحاب المصلحة الآخرين عن أنشطتهم التنفيذية (المقدم من اللجنة المعنية بتسخير العلم والتكنولوجيا لأغراض التنمية عملا بقرار المجلس 2009/7).

At its 11th plenary meeting, on 26 April 2007, the Economic and Social Council, recalling paragraphs 14, 15 (b) and 16 of its resolution 2006/46 of 28 July 2006, entitled " follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society and review of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development " :
قام المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي، في جلسته العامة 11، المعقودة في 26 نيسان/أبريل 2007، بعد أن أشار إلى الفقرات 14 و 15 (ب) و 16 من قراره 2006/46 المؤرخ 28 تموز/يوليه 2006 والمعنون " متابعة نتائج مؤتمر القمة العالمي المعني بمجتمع المعلومات واستعراض لجنة تسخير العلم والتكنولوجيا لأغراض التنمية " ، بما يلي:

7. The panel recalled why the Commission should be mandated to undertake the follow-up to the World Summit for the Information Society:

1. At its 5th meeting, on 18 May 2006, the Commission held a panel discussion on the role of the Commission in the follow-up to the World Summit for the Information Society, moderated by the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on the World Summit for the Information Society.
