35. In paragraph 18 of its resolution 50/225, the General Assembly recommended that the Secretary-General ensure maximum coordination of the activities of the United Nations system in the field of public administration and development.
٥٣ - أوصت الجمعية العامة في الفقرة ٨١ من قرارها ٠٥/٥٢٢ بأن يتخذ اﻷمين العام التدابير المناسبة لكفالة وجود أقصى قدر ممكن من التنسيق بين أنشطة منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة في مجال اﻹدارة العامة والتنمية.

It is expected, further, that the Assembly at its resumed session will consider the issues and recommendations set out in the present report and will provide direction on improving the role of the United Nations system in the area of public administration and development.

In conclusion, the Nigerian delegation hopes that the Member States of this world Organization will see their way clear to revitalize their roles and provide assistance, as necessary, to national Governments in the area of public administration and development.

The integration of support for policy formulation, analytical and normative functions, and relevant technical cooperation activities in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs will facilitate the interface between the intergovernmental policy dialogue in the area of public administration and development and the relevant technical cooperation activities carried out by the Secretariat and the other organizations of the United Nations system.

It is against this background that my delegation wishes to thank the Secretary-General for his report, contained in document A/50/847, which highlights the role which the United Nations can play in facilitating the exchange of ideas, experiences and innovations among Member States in the field of public administration and development.
