The establishment of various nuclear-weapon-free zones around the world was a positive step, and the recent Conference of States Parties to Treaties that Establish Such Zones, held in Mexico, had again demonstrated the resolve of the States concerned to further advance the objectives of non-proliferation.

The Conference also welcomes actions by various nuclear-weapon-free zones to pursue their objectives, in particular the plan of action for the period 2007-2012 endorsed by the Southeast Asia Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Commission to strengthen the implementation of the Bangkok Treaty and the ongoing consultations between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and nuclear-weapon States on the Protocol to the Bangkok Treaty.

7. Mongolia fully supports the eight concrete proposals made by the Chairman of the Latin American and Caribbean Group at the first session of the Preparatory Committee aimed at promoting closer cooperation between the various nuclear-weapon-free zones (see NPT/CONF.2010/PC.I/WP.71).
