Article 13, paragraph 6, of the Kyoto Protocol provides that the first session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties (COP/MOP 1) shall be convened by the secretariat in conjunction with the first session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) that is scheduled after the date of entry into force of the Protocol.
