Not much time has passed since the General Assembly adopted decision 62/557, which provided for the launching of intergovernmental negotiations on a whole set of questions related to an increase in the membership of and improving the geographical representation in the Security Council.

The Committee took note of paragraph 16 of the report and, in that context, recalled paragraph 20 of General Assembly resolution 68/6, related to the beginning of the process for the intergovernmental negotiations on the post-2015 development agenda and, in that regard, reiterated the need for CEB to respect the relevant intergovernmental decisions during the preparation of the post-2015 development agenda.

6. Following the deliberations of the Working Group, the General Assembly, by its decision 62/557, decided that the intergovernmental negotiations on Security Council reform should commence in informal plenary of the General Assembly during its sixty-third session and that the Working Group should continue its work and should submit a report to the Assembly before the end of its sixty-third session.
6 - وفي أعقاب مداولات الفريق العامل، قررت الجمعية العامة في مقررها 62/557 أن يشرع في مفاوضات حكومية دولية بشأن إصلاح مجلس الأمن في جلسات عامة غير رسمية للجمعية العامة تعقد أثناء دورتها الثالثة والستين وأن يواصل الفريق العامل أعماله وأن يقدم تقريرا إلى الجمعية العامة قبل نهاية دورتها الثالثة والستين.
