The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia and Head of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), Mahamat Saleh Annadif, also briefed the Council, stating that the first phase of military operations had come to a successful end and that the security situation had clearly improved, despite persistent terrorist attacks by Al-Shabaab.

وعقد مدير مكتب دعم البعثة اجتماعات مع قيادات مفوضية الاتحاد الأفريقي للصومال والبلدان المساهمة بقوات، شملت زيارات قام بها إلى أوغندا وسيراليون، وشارك المدير في اجتماعات مع رؤساء قوات الدفاع للدول المساهمة بقوات ومع لجنة تنسيق العمليات العسكرية.

In accordance with the understanding reached in the Council's prior consultations, the President, with the consent of the Council, extended an invitation under rule 39 of the Council's provisional rules of procedure to H.E. Mr. Boubacar Gaoussou Diarra, Special Representative of the Chair of the African Union Commission for Somalia.
ووفقا للتفاهم الذي توصل إليه المجلس في مشاوراته السابقة، وجه الرئيس، بموافقة المجلس، دعوة بموجب المادة 39 من النظام الداخلي المؤقت للمجلس، إلى سعادة السيد بوبَكار غاووسو ديارا، الممثل الخاص لرئيس مفوضية الاتحاد الأفريقي للصومال.

At the same meeting, the Council further decided to extend invitations, under rule 39 of its provisional rules of procedure, to Mr. Boubacar Diarra, Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia, and Mr. Pedro Serrano, Acting Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations.

وعُقدت أيضا 6 اجتماعات عن طريق التداول من بعد بالفيديو مع قيادة مفوضية الاتحاد الأفريقي للصومال ومكتب الأمم المتحدة لدى الاتحاد الأفريقي والبعثة (نيروبي ومقديشو).

The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia outlined the various areas of cooperation with the Somali Government, and added that AMISOM was providing humanitarian assistance to the population, including rebuilding schools, rehabilitating health infrastructure, providing free medical treatment and supplying medicines.
