In the same resolution, the Economic and Social Council urged all parties to respect the rules of international humanitarian law and to refrain from violence against the civilian population in accordance with the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, of 12 August 1949.
وفي القرار نفسه، طلب المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي إلى جميع الأطراف احترام قواعد القانون الإنساني الدولي، والامتناع عن ممارسة العنف ضد السكان المدنيين وذلك وفقا لاتفاقية جنيف المتعلقة بحماية المدنيين وقت الحرب المؤرخة 12 آب/أغسطس 1949.
