Normally, staff working in projects or entities with finite mandates would be excluded from consideration for continuing appointments due to the finite nature of their services; however, they could be considered for a continuing appointment provided there was a continuing need for the services of the staff member elsewhere in the Organization.

(c) The Secretary-General shall prescribe the criteria determining staff members' eligibility for consideration for continuing appointments.

Under that proposal, staff members who held appointments limited to service in a particular office or who worked in projects or entities with finite mandates would not be excluded from consideration for continuing appointments and could be granted a continuing appointment provided there was a continuing need for their services in the Organization.

The cases of staff members eligible for consideration for a continuing appointment would be reviewed by the department or office concerned and by the Office of Human Resources Management or the local human resources office to evaluate whether they had fulfilled the criteria for granting continuing appointments.
248 - وسيخضع الموظفون الذين يحق لهم أن يُنظر في منحهم تعيينا مستمرا للاستعراض من جانب الإدارة أو المكتب المعني ومن جانب مكتب إدارة الموارد البشرية أو المكتب المحلي للموارد البشرية لتقييم مدى استيفائهم لشروط منح التعيينات المستمرة.

19. The Secretary-General further proposed that locally recruited staff members in peacekeeping missions whose services continue to be needed beyond five years and who meet the applicable standards should be eligible to be considered for a continuing appointment.
19 - واقترح الأمين العام كذلك أن يكون للموظفين المعينين محليا في بعثات حفظ السلام، ممن تستمر الحاجة إلى خدماتهم إلى ما بعد خمس سنوات وممن تتوافر فيهم المعايير المعمول بها، الحق في أن ينظر في منحهم تعيينا مستمرا.

41. The Staff-Management Coordination Committee supported the Secretary-General's proposal that staff members eligible for consideration for a continuing appointment would be reviewed by the department or office concerned, by the Office of Human Resources Management and, for local staff, by the local human resources office, and approved by the Office of Human Resources Management.
41 - وأيدت لجنة التنسيق بين الموظفين والإدارة اقتراح الأمين العام أن تستعرض حالات الموظفين الذين يحق لهم أن يُنظر في منحهم تعيينا مستمرا من قبل الإدارة أو المكتب المعني، ومكتب إدارة الموارد البشرية، ومن قبل المكتب المحلي للموارد البشرية بالنسبة للموظفين المحليين، وأن تخضع لموافقة مكتب إدارة الموارد البشرية.

Procedure 23. In accordance with the Secretary-General's proposal to the General Assembly at its sixty-second session, staff members eligible for consideration for a continuing appointment would be reviewed by the department or office concerned and by the Office of Human Resources Management or a local human resources office, and be reconsidered by a joint advisory body in case of disagreement.
