Cognizant that the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the region of the Middle East would pose a serious threat to international peace and security,

Meanwhile, we recall the decision of the 2010 NPT Review Conference whereby States parties agreed to convene an international conference in 2012 devoted to the implementation of the resolution on a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East.

This decision reflects the vital importance of freeing the Middle East from all weapons of mass destruction, and of keeping the issue under consideration by the Council, in the interest of maintaining peace and security in the region and ensuring the prosperity of its peoples.

I. Preparation for the postponed 2012 conference on ridding the Middle East of nuclear weapons and all other weapons of mass destruction
أولا - التحضير لمؤتمر 2012 المؤجل حول إخلاء منطقة الشرق الأوسط من الأسلحة النووية وجميع أسلحة الدمار الشامل الأخرى:

6 - إن إخلاء منطقة الشرق الأوسط من الأسلحة النووية شرط أساسي لا غنى عنه لتحقيق الأمن، والاستقرار، والسلام.

My country presented a draft resolution on behalf of the Arab Group to the Security Council in 2003 calling for freeing the Middle East of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.
ولقد تقدمت بلادي بمشروع قرار باسم المجموعة العربية إلى مجلس الأمن في عام 2003 يهدف إلى إخلاء منطقة الشرق الأوسط من الأسلحة النووية وغيرها من أسلحة الدمار الشامل.

Arab States have also launched several initiatives to rid the Middle East region of weapons of mass destruction and, in particular, nuclear weapons.

VIII. Ridding the Middle East region of nuclear weapons -- Issues related to the peaceful use of nuclear energy

Cognizant that the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the region of the Middle East would pose a serious threat to international peace and security,
وإذ تعي أن انتشار اﻷسلحة النووية في منطقة الشرق اﻷوسط من شأنه أن يشكل تهديدا خطيرا للسلم واﻷمن الدوليين،

The international community must abandon its policy of double standards that allows Israel to be exempt from international pressure, thus blocking the creation of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East.
كما أن عليه التوقف عن استخدام المعايير المزدوجة التي تستثني إسرائيل من الضغوط الدولية التي تهدف إلى إخلاء منطقة الشرق الأوسط من أسلحة الدمار الشامل، وعلى رأسها السلاح النووي.

General Assembly resolution 60/52 must be supported by the Bolivian Government, as it constitutes a legal precedent which aims to free the Middle East from the nuclear threat, which, regrettably, is present in the region.
