ومن الجدير اﻹشارة في هذا الصدد الى أنه أطلق سراح ١٨٥ من أسرى الحرب المغاربة في تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر ١٩٩٥ كانوا محتجزين لدى جبهة البوليساريو وذلك بمساعدة اللجنة الدولية للصليب اﻷحمر وحكومتي اﻷرجنتين والولايات المتحدة.

22. Owing to the mediation of a Member State, the Frente POLISARIO announced on 13 February 2004 the release of a further 100 Moroccan prisoners of war, who were subsequently repatriated to Morocco under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

14. Pursuant to the intercession of a Member State, the Frente Polisario announced on 21 June 2004 the release of a further 100 Moroccan prisoners of war, who were subsequently repatriated to Morocco under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

36. While the recent release of a number of Moroccan prisoners of war, as well as Saharan detainees, is a positive development, the continued detention of over 1,350 prisoners of war, most of them for more than 20 years, is a serious humanitarian issue.
