ASEAN considered that it was most crucial to ensure conditions so that the remaining Non-Self-Governing Territories and their peoples could freely exercise their right to self-determination in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the resolutions of the General Assembly.

Gibraltar welcomed the announcement by the Government of the United Kingdom that it would undertake a comprehensive review of policy in relation to its remaining Non-Self-Governing Territories.
١٧ - وأضاف أن جبل طارق يرحب بما أعلنته حكومة المملكة المتحدة من أنها ستقوم بمراجعة شاملة للسياسات العامة المتعلقة بما يتبقى لها من أقاليم غير متمتعة بالحكم الذاتي.

2. All States Members of the Organization are obliged to make a good-faith effort to ensure that the remaining Non-Self-Governing Territories can exercise their inalienable right to self-determination.

The English programme " UN Caribbean Magazine " , the Dutch " Nieuwe Connecties " and the Creole " Nouveau Contacts " featured the work of the Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples and its recommendations to the General Assembly on the remaining Non-Self-Governing Territories.
وأبرز البرنامجان الانكليزي " مجلة اﻷمم المتحدة لمنطقة الكاريبي " والهولندي " صلات جديدة " والبرنامج المُعد بالكريول والمعنون " صلات جديدة " أعمال اللجنة الخاصة المعنية بحالة تنفيذ إعلان منح الاستقلال للبلدان والشعوب المستعمرة وتوصياتها للجمعية العامة بشأن ما تبقى من أقاليم غير متمتعة بالحكم الذاتي.

9. Ms. Theofilopoulou (Department of Political Affairs (DPA)) said that during the period reviewed the Department, in cooperation with DPI, had continued to disseminate information on decolonization to encourage steps towards self-determination in the remaining Non-Self-Governing Territories.

25. Ms. Joseph (Saint Lucia) said that in chairing the Committee over the past several years, her delegation had produced a Plan of Implementation of the Decolonization Mandate 2006-2007. The plan provided a comprehensive blueprint for the United Nations system to further the decolonization process in the remaining Non-Self-Governing Territories.
25 - السيدة جوزيف (سانت لوسيا): قالت إن وفدها، لدى مشاركته في رئاسة اللجنة خلال السنوات العديدة الماضية، أعد خطة لتنفيذ الولاية المتعلقة بإنهاء الاستعمار للفترة 2006-2007، وتقدم الخطة مشروعاً شاملاً لمنظومة الأمم المتحدة لمواصلة عملية إنهاء الاستعمار فيما تبقى من أقاليم غير متمتعة بالحكم الذاتي.

6. Indonesia was encouraged by the innovative approach taken by the Special Committee on Decolonization to progress towards achievable goals, with the overall aim of assisting the people of the remaining Non-Self-Governing Territories in realizing their aspiration of political equality and a full measure of self-government.
