71. Article III of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide stipulates that:

Article IV of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide requires that persons charged with genocide be tried by a competent tribunal.
وتقضي المادة الرابعة من اتفاقية منع جريمة الإبادة الجماعية والمعاقبة عليها بأن يحاكم الأشخاص المتهمون بارتكاب الإبادة الجماعية أمام محكمة مختصة.

وكذلك تنص المواد 1 و 2 و 4 من اتفاقية منع ومعاقبة الجرائم المرتكبة ضد الأشخاص المتمتعين بحماية دولية، بمن فيهم الموظفون الدبلوماسيون والمعاقبة عليها، على أن تتعاون الدول الأطراف في منع ارتكاب الجرائم ضد موظفي المنظمات الحكومية الدولية وأماكن عملهم الرسمية، بين آخرين.

Article II of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which entered into force on 12 January 1951, defines genocide as follows:
والمادة الثانية من " اتفاقية منع جريمة الإبادة الجماعية والمعاقبة عليها " التي دخلت حيز النفاذ في 12 كانون الثاني/يناير 1951، تعرف الإبادة الجماعية على النحو التالي:

٨- وتسند المادة ٦ من نظام روما اﻷساسي الى المحكمة الجنائية الدولية اختصاص النظر في جريمة اﻹبادة الجماعية حسب تعريفها الوارد في المادة الثانية من اتفاقية منع جريمة اﻹبادة الجماعية والمعاقبة عليها.
