Ms. Nicholas (Secretariat) said that paragraphs 38 and 39 of the note by the secretariat on possible future work in the area of procurement and infrastructure development (A/CN.9/755) raised questions about how to ensure that the Model Law was widely enacted, implemented and interpreted, and also about the use of modern communication methods to publicize UNCITRAL material that supported the Model Law.

Requests the United Nations Environment Programme to establish a trust fund for the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, as set out in option 2.B. in paragraph 19 (b) of the note by the secretariat on options for the Platform trust fund, and to transfer any fund balance from the interim fund structure to the new trust fund as of 1 January 2014;

In its decision IPBES-2/7 on financial and budgetary arrangements, the Plenary requested UNEP to establish a trust fund for the Platform as set out in option 2.B. in paragraph 19 (b) of the note by the secretariat on options for the trust fund (IPBES/2/6) and to transfer any fund balance from the interim fund structure to the new trust fund as of 1 January 2014.

The Chair indicated her intention to focus debate on the bracketed text that had not been provisionally agreed at the third session of the Preparatory Committee, as outlined in paragraph 5 of the secretariat's note on the strategy (SAICM/ICCM.1/3), but agreed that there might be need for consideration of other text following discussion of other issues.
