1. A casual vacancy may occur through death, the resignation of a member of the Committee or the inability of a Committee member to perform her or his function as a member of the Committee.
1- قد ينشأ شاغر طارئ بسبب وفاة أحد أعضاء اللجنة أو استقالته أو عجزه عن أداء مهامه كعضو في اللجنة.

4. Except in the case of a vacancy arising from a member's death or disability, the SecretaryGeneral shall act in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 1 of the present rule only after receiving, from the member concerned, a written declaration of his or her decision to cease to function as a member of the Committee.
4- باستثناء الحالة التي يشغر فيها مقعد نتيجة لوفاة عضو أو إصابته بعجز، يتصرف الأمين العام وفقا لأحكام الفقرة 1 من هذه المادة، ولا يقوم بهذا التصرف إلا بعد تلقيه لإخطار كتابي من العضو المعني بأنه قرر التوقف عن أداء مهامه كعضو في اللجنة.

4. Except in the case of a vacancy arising from a member's death or disability, the SecretaryGeneral shall act in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 1 of the present rule only after receiving, from the member concerned, a written declaration of his or her decision to cease to function as a member of the Committee. 1. When a casual vacancy occurs in the Committee the SecretaryGeneral shall immediately request the State party whose expert has ceased to function as a member of the Committee to appoint another expert from among its nationals within two months to serve for the remainder of his predecessor's term.
1- عندما يشغر مقعد طارئ في اللجنة، يطلب الأمين العام فورا إلى الدولة الطرف التي يكون خبيرها قد توقف عن أداء مهامه كعضو في اللجنة تعيين خبير آخر من بين مواطنيها في غضون شهرين ليكمل ما تبقى من فترة عضوية سلفه.

17. The Law of the Sea Convention is silent on the question of what actions should be taken if a member of the Commission is accused of being involved in activities inconsistent with his or her duties as a member of the Commission.
٧١ - ولم تتطرق اتفاقية قانون البحار لمسألة اﻹجراءات التي ينبغي اتخاذها إذا ما اتهم عضو في اللجنة بتورطه في أنشطة لا تتوافق مع مهامه كعضو في اللجنة.

If any of the officers of the Committee ceases to serve or declares inability to continue serving as a member of the Committee or for any reason is no longer able to act as an officer, a new officer shall be elected for the unexpired term of his or her predecessor.
إذا توقف أي عضو من أعضاء مكتب اللجنة عن الخدمة أو أعلن عدم قدرته على مواصلة أداء مهامه كعضو في اللجنة أو لم يعد قادراً لأي سبب على العمل كعضو في المكتب، ينتخب عضو جديد في المكتب للمدة المتبقية من عضوية سلفه.

Except in the case of a vacancy arising from a member's death or proven disability, the SecretaryGeneral and the Committee shall act in accordance with the provisions of paragraphs 1, 3 and 4 of this rule only after receiving from the member concerned written notification of his or her decision to cease to function as a member of the Committee.
5- باستثناء الحالة التي يشغر فيها مقعد نتيجة لوفاة عضو أو إصابته بعجز مثبت، يتصرف الأمين العام واللجنة وفقاً لأحكام الفقرات 1 و3 و4 من هذه المادة، ولا يكون هذا التصرف إلا بعد تلقيهما لإخطار كتابي من العضو المعني بأنه قرر التوقف عن أداء مهامه كعضو في اللجنة.

1. In accordance with article 72, paragraph 6, of the Convention, if a member of the Committee dies or resigns or declares for any other cause that he or she can no longer perform his or her duties as a member of the Committee, the Secretary-General shall immediately request the State party that nominated the expert to appoint within two months another expert from among its own nationals for the remaining part of the term.
1- وفقاً للفقرة 6 من المادة 72 من الاتفاقية، إذا توفي عضو من أعضاء اللجنة أو استقال أو أعلن أنه، لأي سبب آخر، لم يعد باستطاعته أداء مهامه كعضو في اللجنة، يطلب الأمين العام فوراً إلى الدولة الطرف التي رشحت الخبير تعيين خبير آخر من بين مواطنيها في غضون شهرين ليكمّل ما تبقى من فترة عضوية سلفه.
