I believe that this initial discussion needs to take place before consideration of the draft risk profiles and the newly proposed chemicals since the issues are common to a number of them.

(a) For each of the draft risk profiles developed by the working groups established by the Committee:

In accordance with the procedure laid down in Article 8 of the Convention, the Committee examined the risk profiles and decided that these chemicals are likely, as a result of their long-range environmental transport to lead to significant adverse human health and/or environmental effects such that global action is warranted.

In adopting its decisions on chemicals, the Committee decided, in accordance with paragraph 6 of Article 8 of the Convention and paragraph 29 of decision SC-1/7 of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention, to establish intersessional ad hoc working groups to review the proposals further and to prepare draft risk profiles in accordance with Annex E to the Convention.
