During the first session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2000 Review Conference of the States Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in 1997 Ambassador U Mya Than proposed a draft protocol on security assurances for non-nuclear-weapon States.
