During the biennium 1998-1999, it is intended to focus specifically on strengthening and expanding outreach efforts, to sensitize young people in support of the United Nations, by promoting the dissemination of information on it in school programmes in Switzerland and neighbouring countries.

31. Mr. Nimac (Croatia) said that the Department of Public Information in 2000 had played an important role in disseminating information about the United Nations and informing the international community about its work in such important areas as peace and security, poverty eradication and HIV/AIDS.

٤- توصي كذلك بأن ينظم مركز حقوق اﻹنسان حلقة عمل للصحفيين من السكان اﻷصليين، بمشاركة الدوائر المعنية في اﻷمم المتحدة وغيرها من المؤسسات واﻷشخاص، من أجل تحسين نشر المعلومات عن اﻷمم المتحدة وأنشطتها المتعلقة بالشعوب اﻷصلية؛

30. In its resolution 1996/34, the Subcommission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities recommended that the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights organize a workshop, with the participation of appropriate departments of the United Nations and other relevant institutions and persons, in order to improve the dissemination of information about the United Nations and its activities related to indigenous people.
