The spirit of the United Nations Charter -- characterized by such words as " to live together in peace with one another as good neighbours " and " to promote social progress and better standards of life in large freedom " -- has been widely accepted in the international community.
وروح ميثاق الأمم المتحدة - التي تتسم بها كلمات مثل " أن نعيش معا في سلام وحسن جوار " و " أن ندفع بالرقي الاجتماعي قدما، وأن نرفع مستوى الحياة في جو من الحرية أفسح " - لقيت اعترافا واسع النطاق في المجتمع الدولي.

Let us remember the calls of the Preamble of the Charter " to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours " and " to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security " , as well as " to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples " .
دعونا نتذكر الدعوات الواردة في الميثاق إلى " أن نأخذ أنفسنا بالتسامح، وأن نعيش معا في سلام وحسن جوار " وإلى " أن نضم قوانا كي نحتفظ بالسلم والأمن الدولي " و " أن نستخدم الأداة الدولية في ترقية الشؤون الاقتصادية والاجتماعية للشعوب جميعها " .

The scourge of the Second World War led us to try to avert the recurrence of such a tragedy and to put an end to a culture of war. فقد دفعت ويلات الحرب العالمية الثانية إلى البحث عن السبل الكفيلة بتجنب تكرار تلك المأساة، ومحاربة ثقافة الحرب، فكان الميثاق، الذي تعاهدنا في مقدمته، نحن شعوب الأمم المتحدة " أن نأخذ أنفسنا بالتسامح، وأن نعيش معا في سلام وحسن جوار " .
