As requested by the Conference of the Parties, the Secretary-General, after consultation with the Bureau of the Conference of the Parties, appointed Mr. Hama Arba Diallo as the first head of the secretariat with the title of Executive Secretary, at the level of Assistant Secretary-General for a three-year period starting on 1 January 1999.
٨- وكما طلب مؤتمر اﻷطراف، قام اﻷمين العام، بعد التشاور مع مكتب مؤتمر اﻷطراف، بتعيين السيد هاما أربا ديالو أول رئيس لﻷمانة بلقب أمين تنفيذي وبرتبة أمين عام مساعد لفترة ثلاث سنوات ابتداء من ١ كانون الثاني/يناير ١٩٩٩.
