It encouraged the Commission on the Status of Women, in accordance with the spirit of integration set out in the 1993 Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, to work in coordination with the relevant human rights bodies on all issues concerning violations of women's human rights. It urged further the ongoing monitoring by the Commission on the Status of Women of that work in order to integrate issues of gender on a more fundamental basis.

In addition to continuing cooperation with these bodies, UNHCR also worked at the regional level during the reporting period to strengthen its relations with various regional human rights bodies, including for instance, the inter-American human rights system, the Council of Europe, and the African Commission on Human and People's Rights.

The successful peaceful transition of South Africa to a democratic and non-racial society with human rights safeguarded by an entrenched Charter of Fundamental Rights has nevertheless left cultural, economic and social inequalities reflecting historical deprivation. Corrective action by human rights bodies will make a constructive contribution.
٣ - على الرغم من أن عملية تحول جنوب افريقيا سلميا إلى مجتمع ديمقراطي ولا عنصري يكفل فيه صون حقوق الانسان بموجب ميثاق راسخ للحقوق اﻷساسية قد تكللت بالنجاح، فقد خلفت مع ذلك تفاوتات ثقافية واقتصادية واجتماعية تجسد حرمانا تاريخيا، ومن ثم فإن اتخاذ هيئات حقوق الانسان إجراءات تصحيحية في هذا الصدد سيشكل إسهاما بناء.

In this connection, it is useful to recall Commission on Human Rights resolution 1994/70 of 9 March 1994 in which the Commission urges Governments to refrain from all acts of intimidation or reprisal against, inter alia, those who seek to cooperate or have cooperated with representatives of United Nations human rights bodies, or who have provided testimony or information to them.
ويجدر التذكير في هذا الصدد بأن قرار لجنة حقوق الانسان ٤٩٩١/٠٧ المؤرخ في ٩ آذار/مارس ٤٩٩١، الذي حثت فيه اللجنة الحكومات على الامتناع عن القيام بأي عمل من أعمال الترهيب أو القمع ضد أي شخص يحاول التعاون، أو يتعاون بالفعل مع ممثلي هيئات حقوق الانسان التابعة لﻷمم المتحدة أو يكون قد أدلى بشهادة أمامها أو قدم اليها معلومات.
