The thirteenth session of the COP and the concurrent sessions of the subsidiary bodies were attended by representatives of 188 Parties to the UNFCCC, as well as observer States, representatives of United Nations bodies and programmes, convention secretariats, and specialized agencies and institutions and related organizations of the United Nations system.

Furthermore, there is a need to establish close cooperation between the Regional Centre and the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, in particular its institutions in the field of peace, disarmament and security, as well as with the relevant United Nations bodies and programmes in and for Africa, for greater effectiveness.
