The Committee has often times recalled that it is not enough to have legislative provisions in place and that the Convention goes beyond mere formal equality and is about substantive equality.

33. It was noted that the European Union is elaborating a number of important programmes in the Mediterranean region and that the Convention will have an important impact on these programmes.
٣٣ - وأشير إلى أن الاتحاد اﻷوروبي يقوم حاليا بوضع تفاصيل عدد من البرامج الهامة في منطقة البحر المتوسط وأن الاتفاقية سيكون لها تأثير هام على هذه البرامج.

The Committee is particularly concerned that children themselves are not well informed about their rights and that the Convention is not sufficiently translated into other languages.

In particular, she pointed out that, as migration flows increased around the world, the need for a new human rights protection regime for migrants became ever more urgent, and that the Convention would open a new chapter in the history of efforts to establish the rights of migrant workers in international law and ensure that those rights were protected and respected.
وأشارت بوجه خاص إلى أنه لما كانت تدفقات المهاجرين تزداد في جميع أرجاء العالم، فإن الحاجة إلى نظام جديد لحماية حقوق الإنسان للمهاجرين قد أصبحت أكثر إلحاحا من ذي قبل وأن الاتفاقية ستفتح فصلاً جديداً في تاريخ الجهود المبذولة لترسيخ وضع حقوق المهاجرين في القانون الدولي وضمان حماية هذه الحقوق واحترامها.

407. Article 101 of the Constitution provides that international treaties subscribed to by Peru shall subsequently form an integral part of national legislation, and that the Convention thus supports and protects women against all forms of discrimination.
٤٠٧- تنص المادة ١٠١ من الدستور على أن المعاهدات الدولية التي تنضم إليها بيرو تشكل بالتالي جزءا لا يتجزأ من التشريعات الوطنية، وأن الاتفاقية تساند المرأة بالتالي وتحميها من جميع أشكال التمييز.

444. The Committee notes with concern that the status of the Convention in domestic law is unclear and that the Convention apparently has never been directly invoked in domestic courts.
444- وتلاحظ اللجنة بقلق أن مركز الاتفاقية في القانون الوطني غير واضح وأن الاتفاقية لم يتم، على ما يبدو، الاحتجاج بها قط أمام المحاكم الوطنية.

This indicates that the Basel Convention's activities constitute important elements in the follow-up to the World Summit and that the Convention itself has entered a new phase in its second decade squarely focused on implementation and more practical outcomes.

289. The Committee asks the State party to take note that the terms " equity " and " equality " are not synonymous or interchangeable, and that the Convention is directed towards eliminating discrimination against women and ensuring equality between women and men.
289- وتحث اللجنة الدولة الطرف على أن تضع في الاعتبار أن مصطلحي الإنصاف والمساواة لا يترادفان ولا يحملان نفس المعنى وأن الاتفاقية تهدف إلى إلغاء التمييز ضد المرأة وتأمين مساواتها بالرجل.

It should be remembered that the ultimate goal was to ensure that the rights of persons with disabilities were respected all over the world, and the Convention would play a key role in that effort.
وأنه ينبغي أن نتذكر أن الهدف النهائي هو كفالة احترام حقوق المعوقين في جميع أنحاء العالم. وأن الاتفاقية ستلعب دورا رئيسيا في هذه الجهود.

23. Notes with satisfaction that the Convention on the Establishment of the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization was opened for signature in Beijing on 28 October 2005, that as at 1 June 2006 the Convention had been signed by nine States and that once the Convention has been ratified by five States, it will enter into force, thereby establishing the organization, with its headquarters in Beijing;
23 - تلاحظ مع الارتياح أن باب التوقيع على الاتفاقية المتعلقة بإنشاء منظمة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ للتعاون في مجال الفضاء قد فتح في بيجين في 28 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2005، وأن عدد الدول التي وقعتها حتى 1 حزيران/يونيه 2006 بلغ تسع دول، وأن الاتفاقية تدخل حيز النفاذ ما أن تصدق عليها خمس دول، وبالتالي تنشأ المنظمة ويكون مقرها في بيجين؛
